This presentation will highlight the innovative thinking from The University of Alabama as they present their winning 2024 Fleet Innovation Award submission. The NASUF Fleet Innovation Award recognizes a member who demonstrates sustained efforts to improve the efficiency of their fleet in terms of measurable cost reductions, safety enhancements, or improved customer service.

This session will share the following improvements the university has made since 2020:

• Launched new Fleet Management department
• Created an online auction website in July 2020 to sell pre-owned fleet
• Created Fleet Management’s New Vehicle Lease Program, where Fleet Management purchases all vehicles and leases them to the departments
• Fleet Management owns the vehicles
• Set replacement schedule for 3-4 years

These improvements will highlight that a newer fleet is a best practice for The University of Alabama, replacing vehicles every 3 to 4 years resulting in significant savings for their fleet.
